Building reputation as a sustainability leader
Challenge
The BMW Group was the first German carmaker to join the Business Ambition for 1.5°C – the most robust commitment to the goal of full climate neutrality over the entire value chain by 2050 at the latest.
They needed to cut through the noise as the automotive industry decarbonised and show how they were driving towards net zero through compelling thought leadership.
Solution
We provided strategic consultancy and activation support for BMW’s Race to Zero announcement, which resulted in 21 pieces of relevant coverage and a flagship piece in The FT.
Later that year, Forster devised and delivered a high-profile event at the Natural History Museum where experts from across industries came together for an in-depth discussion and multi-stakeholder reception to explore the challenges and opportunities of decarbonisation.
We also partnered with BMW Group on communications for COP26, securing commentary on business and news national radio, and sustainability titles. A highlight of which included a BMW spokesperson appearing on Newsnight, the UK’s leading news analysis programme.
Our partnership continues, and we are now working with the business on an extended global brief.

Over 70 pieces of coverage generated for BMW Group UK’s Recharge in Nature partnership with UK National Parks. The project will see BMW UK invest a total of around £1 million in biodiversity and community projects, as well as putting all 15 of the UK’s National Parks firmly on the EV map by installing 135 new charging points.
